In February 2022, Nintendo announced plans to shut down the WiiU and 3DS eShops beginning in March 2023. To add further insult to injury, Nintendo also stated that, aside from the games included with Switch Online subscriptions, they had no intention of making legacy content available through other means. Don’t worry though, because there’s still time to act and get your hands on those games you’ve been wanting to play for years, it’s just that you’re going to have to do it as soon as possible. For this list, we’re looking at the WiiU games you absolutely should buy before the eShop closes for good. Here are 10 video games you need to buy before the Wii U Online Store closes. 1. As a quick note, Sonic Lost World has some free DLC for crossover levels with Zelda and Yoshi. I think I heard that these are now on PC unofficially, but the only way to play them officially is through the Wii U eShop. They're nothing brilliant, but they're definitely getting IMO.

Also, someone else already said this, but Xenoblade X has DLC that makes physical versions of the game run a bit better. This is also completely free and worth getting if have the storage space.

  2. Very honourable mention : for those few of us who have no intention of picking up a switch, breath of the wild, Physically the game has not exploded in price either and while it is inferior to the switch version technically it is still very playable.

  3. Most of these are Wii titles. Or could be bought physically. Come on guys, try to dig deeper and find games that would only, or are best bought on the Wii U eshop. I dunno, like Fatal Frame V (made for the U) or Devils Third, which may be available physically and isn't that good, but it's $30 on the eshop, $300+ physically

  4. Ok, seriously, why would you suggest NES REMIX1 and 2?
You do not get a dozen games for a cheap price, you don't even get one game…. you get 1 or 2 levels from each game, maybe a room or two from Zelda and that's it.
The NES Remix series is basically Wario Ware's 9volt games, you get a small snippit of each game you have a few seconds to complete but NOT the full game..
(I had to do this, the misconception has cause more than a few pissed off gamers and parents locally. A store thought it was the whole version of all the listed games, it's not, it's just a couple levels and samples from each, where you have specific objectives, you don't actually play the games.)

  5. This and your 3ds list feels like lazy writing of "exclusive" games. Yes they are only on the systems that the shop is closing but almost all are available physical… There is so many eshop only games you didn't mention

  6. Sure you can play Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on Wii U due to backwards compatibility but you still need a nunchuck and wii mote to play. I would like a version of these games (especially part 2 since I have Mario 3D all stars on Switch) that I don't need these devices for because 1, I'm terrible at motion control and 2, from what I remember SMG1 on the wii was a battery drainer. Sure you can get a charger for the wii motes, but you have to charge it almost all day for about 15 minutes of play time and then the battery goes dead again. That's why I never bothered with SMG2.
