  1. Those were some of MY favorite “hidden gems” from this year! What are YOURS?!

Boomstick Gaming is the haven for core gamers who value gameplay mechanics and systems, because that's what continues

to make anything from 8-bit to 8k, equally enjoyable. Consider sticking around on the channel if you fall into that category! -Alex

  2. Ultra Age: "Assuming you enjoy high speed action combat." No. I hate it. That's just the kind of combat where your foes don't block, avoid nor use any moves to counter. And probably you neither. And immerrsion breaking flying and dashing too. NEXT!

  3. Would Remnant: From the Ashes and Control count? Especially Control. Knew nothing about it and heard nothing of it until it was free on various platforms. One of my favorite games.

  4. I really liked the game sable it was a pleasant chill game about exploring both the desert and yourself. I also super enjoyed demon turf, a platformer with an interesting aesthetic and fun world. i would recommend both games if you havent played them yet. plus they both have incredible art styles i love both of them a lot

  5. I guess I've really only put a decent amount of time into two games this year, PSO2: NGS, and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. But neither could really fall into the hidden gem category. I guess Record of Lodoss war, a cute little metroidvania I played a bit this spring, might qualify? But I didn't really put to much time into it, so I don't know if it's good enough for a best hidden gems list.

  6. Ultra Age illustrates a complaint I have about some games: combat takes forever because enemies take 3+ combos to kill, they clog the area and stand around attacking one at a time, stakes and skillcap are low, lack of environmental interaction means fights feel samey. If it isn't better than Neir, they wasted their time.

  7. I played the demo for ultra age and I was positively surprised about the combat system. It's fun and the animations are quite nice. Don't know about story and characters but it's definitely an interesting game.

I would also add Voice of cards: the isle dragon. Also played the demo and I think it's a nice little game. Simple turn based combat system, pretty design and interesting D&D feel.

  8. Man, that Ultra Age looks straight like Devil May Cry 4 almost! I'm glad I came across this video to see it in action. That's going to be an instant pickup for me when it comes out. ?

  9. Add me to you many subscribers. I hadn't heard of most of the games, including blue fire (which i had in my library). That is the game that peaked my interest the most. As well as Grime and Rift Breaker.
