So basically it’s a series where you typically play through the destruction of the world and onward. The main conflict within the series is usually how the world should be structured and who should lead. The most used system is known as the alignment system where factions of people who believe in the order and absolute law of angels, people who believe in the freedom and absolute chaos of demons, and people who believe in humanity’s ultimate neutrality to lead itself. They fight against each other for one of them to take control of the world.
The player chooses who to side with and helps them bring that vision to fruition.

Combat wise I personally believe it’s one of the best JRPG series ever. It has a similar combat system to the persona games, which are spinoffs of SMT, but more in depth and fun. You target weaknesses to gain turns, but you can also take away your enemies’ turns, and the same for your enemy.

The series is also known for its amazing OST s, one of the most popular songs being SMT IVs battle b2
