The highly anticipated Dead Island 2 is finally here, and there’s plenty to get excited about. The game still features the original classic moments of hack-and-slash against zombies in bloody, gory single-player and co-op runs. The most remarkable thing about Dead Island 2 is how the co-op experience has been massively improved. However, just because you’re queuing up with other people doesn’t mean these elite zombies will be easy targets. This guide will help you players learn how to defeat each boss in their respective missions.

All bosses in Dead Island 2

Zombies are roaming around LA, and some have mutated into different types with various abilities. However, some elite enemies are in a different league than others. These bosses are so strong and dangerous that players may need to perform multiple rounds to take them down. They’re also more durable than most zombies, so you might need more than your trusty cleaver to chop them down.

Here are all of the Dead Island 2 bosses and missions you’ll encounter:

Becki the Bride (Room Service for Major Booker) Alesis Hernandez (Michael Anders and the Holy Grail) Dillon (The Giant-Slayer) MC Spitzfire (Cremains of the Day) Bundy (Blood Drive) Butcho the Clown (Boardwalking Dead) Specimen Noah ( The Search for Truth) Reubenator (Hollywood Ending)

While these zombies are technically considered bosses, they’re manageable to take down, especially if you’re fighting ones that are appropriate for your level. These fights require you to be more tactical, observant, and defensive, so you won’t waste too many resources fighting one. Players should also bring the best weapons instead of wielding a kitchen knife. These bosses can become more difficult if you join friends doing higher level missions.

Becki the bride

This unfortunate bride is your first boss in the game. Becki is a better type of Crusher Zombie, which are muscle heads that deal serious damage with their punches. The bride’s moveset includes heavy punches and a ground slam that can knock players down. She is also quite tanky in addition to her overwhelming strength.

The main thing to remember about Becki is that while she’s strong and durable, she’s not fast. The main thing players should do here is take advantage of their maneuverability. Keep dodging and circling him while you occasionally do damage with small arms. You can tell Becki is out of stamina when she drops to one knee. During these times, you should switch to heavy weapons to deal more damage while she’s incapacitated. Keep doing this tactic until you shoot the bride down.

Alesis Hernandez

Alesis Hernandez is an elite variant of Slobber zombies, which makes him quite annoying and gross to face. These Apex zeds are ranged enemies that use their vomit to attack players, causing caustic damage over time and having high resistance against bludgeoning damage and projectiles. Alesis also has the same stats as normals, but does a bit more damage, which can deplete your HP quickly.

The fight against Alesis himself is relatively easy, but the many zombies that come to help him will make the battle difficult. For the boss, you should always try to aim for his back for extra damage and drain his stability. Also, blunt and projectile weapons are ineffective against him, so you should bring sharper tools and items with bleed or shock damage. Explosives will also help significantly in this fight.

Players need to remember two things: don’t stand still and deal with incoming zombies first. Alesis won’t be able to hit you with her bile if you’re still moving. The growing number of infected will make the fight difficult, which can overwhelm you if you ignore them long enough. Be sure to delete them as soon as they appear.

Nikki Gutte

Nikki Gutte is a boring boss who falls under the Screamer-variant. As their name suggests, these types emit piercing screams that can visually obstruct players, knock them down, and stun them. Screamers are even more annoying as their screams can attract other zombies or hordes that can descend upon helpless players trapped within the range of those Apex zeds’ screams.

Nikki is a tricky boss, mainly because she can attract hordes of zombies that overwhelm you while you’re stunned. The best way to deal with these situations is to look at the various environmental hazards. You can blow up flame lamps nearby to ignite incoming zombies. Additionally, water-carrying variants that join the horde will leave puddles that you can electrify.

For the boss herself, the best way to deal with her is to stay as far away from her as possible to avoid getting caught in her screams. While you maintain your distance, use curve balls to drain his stamina. Once she’s staggered, do as much damage as possible before she recovers.

Dillon

Dillon is another crusher type boss requiring a different tactic than how you fought Becki. Different from other zombies of the same variant, you should refrain from trying to fight this boss up close. The usual Crusher tactic is to dance around and avoid getting hit while performing quick attacks. It would help if you stayed as far away as possible for Dillon as his ground slams create fiery shockwaves.

The main way to attack Dillon is to use any guns you have on you. Since you can’t get close to him due to his constant use of fiery shockwaves, you have to engage him in long-range battles while jumping in time to avoid the creeping fire. Players should also beware of zombies coming to attack them as they can be ignited by the flames caused by slamming the ground. Be sure to take them out before they get too close.

Butcho the Clown

As the name suggests, Butcho falls under the Butcher variant of Apex Zombies. It is fast, agile and very responsive to players’ movements. As a Butcher-type, his arms have turned into blades, which he will use against players significantly. Another trick in this fight is that Butcho will try to feed on corpses to regenerate his HP every time he loses health.

You can pay less attention to other zombies for this fight as there won’t be as many of them as in previous battles. Any type of weapon is effective against Butcho. However, going into melee comes with some risk since he can react quickly to players and attack them back. Using firearms is usually a good idea, but this boss can block shots using his arms. It would help if you time your attacks correctly to make sure you hit him.

Follow him around and use a pistol to interrupt his power whenever he attempts to regenerate. Landing a hit or two on him will force Butcho back into the fight. You can also use Curveball items and Stagger skills to make this fight more effective. The battle with this boss takes place in a dimly lit room, so be careful not to lose sight of it.

Specimen Noah

When you see Specimen Noah and think he won’t be an easy fight, then you’re 100% right. This boss is a Mutator, meaning it has exceptionally high health and high damage. At the start of the fight, Noah will escape his bonds and begin to mutate into a different form. His chest will open and he will gain a large claw arm which he will use to charge at the player immediately after he finishes transforming.

This boss fight is simple because you don’t have to worry about unique mechanics, gadgets, or too many zombies coming to help him. The only thing Noah has is his high HP and damage. He has great resistance to explosives and projectiles, so use the best weapons you have. There will also be explosive barrels nearby, which you can use to quickly take out our wandering zombies or if the boss gets close.

The idea here is to pump out as much damage as possible. Shotguns are especially useful against Noah. It’s also not recommended to get too close to him, as he can grab and deal absolute damage while you’re in his clutches. Fury Mode should only be used when you have stunned Noah or are overwhelmed.

The Reubanator

The final campaign boss is another Mutator, who has some slight variations added to his kit. The Reubanator will have the same qualities as this type of variant, and it can also launch projectiles from its chest, which it will often do. As this is the last stand, players should expect a tough battle as other zombies will help them.

In addition to knowing the Reubanator’s attack patterns, players must also observe and use their surroundings. The room where you will be the boss is dark, so you have to be careful of your surroundings. Use the pillars available in the area to block incoming projectiles. There will also be jets of flame coming from different parts of the room, so make sure to avoid them.

Apex Zombies will spawn to aid the Reubanator. Your main focus should be the Screamers, as they can get in your way, so get rid of them ASAP. If you ever run out of HP, look out for Hazmat Zombies as they drop MedKits on death. A rifle or shotgun will dispatch them quickly so you can heal immediately.

Bring all available weapons and ammo for this fight, as many zombies will be pouring in. As the room heats up, more infected ones will burst into the area. Eliminate them while dodging the boss’ attacks before refocusing on him.

Don’t be cheap on your guns

Even if you know all the patterns of each boss and the strategies for defeating them, you’ll still struggle if you’re cheap on the weapons and bullets you bring. Make sure you carry the appropriate guns or melee items and don’t be too careful about shooting your guns. However, that doesn’t mean you should be happy with the trigger and wasting precious ammo. Make sure you have the appropriate number of weapons at your disposal before fighting a boss.
