  2. I can't believe I found a channel that deals with construction, administration and strategy games. Talking about the news without forgetting the classics of our generation.

    Keep up the wonderful work.
    Greetings from Brazil.

  3. Zakh strikes again with another fantastic list. I just hope one day my dream city builder is on one of these lists. A city builder where you start post-apocalyptic and end up with a futuristic city.

  4. Thank you for your content man. I'm really into P2E Metaverse building game right now. I thought you have this upcoming game on your list Fake Town. For sure, you will discover this one soon.

  5. Good list, nice work! The more complexity in game mechanics and simulations, the more issues with balancing and bugs. Many of the games have mediocre graphics. Wonder how many ends up as cash grabs or overestimated. For me games based on the past is boring, but most of those based in a future or other worlds have quality challenges.

  6. I'm pretty disappointed in the quality and innovation of these types of games for the last 5ish years. Frostpunk was f'n amazing, I'm gonna lose my mind that that 2 won't come out for like another year or more? Anno 1800 was good but not having a better 'exploration' aspect to the game, especially on the main map, really hurt. Plus the DLCs don't add much that interested me. Kingdoms reborn is OK but shares the same issue I have with almost all the other games on this list, it looks and feels like something made 20-30 years ago. Maybe I'm just too old and have exhausted my enjoyment for the genre.

  7. One old one that may be worth alook and a few not on the list:

An old one that i think got no or barely any coverage is: T-Minus 30
Its premise is that the earth is about to be hit by meteors and your goal is to build a city, harvest resources and build as many rockets to shoot people off the planet as possible: in 30 minutes.
Its really fun, not expensive and a good balance between complexity and simplicity, that supports the premise.
It sounds hectic, but actually is pretty relaxing.

One that seems to be missing on the list is "Aquatico". While i think it looks quite generic and doesnt offer anything besides the mostly fresh setting of "underwater", its still something to take a look at.

Another is "Flooded", which is incredibly fun and a cool idea that is pretty similar to T-Minus 30.
Not sure about a release in 2022, could yet be worth to be noted on the "Bonus List".

"Grimgrad", had a demo on the summer fest or whatever and seems to be similar to Gord plus Dawn of Men.
So your typical, a bit generic, city builder with survival thematics mixed with gods/fantasy.

  8. Dream Engines is an awful game.
Its a mix of mechanics that sound fun on paper, but then end up being totally generic and boring, even unfun.
It possibly comes down to a few decisions they made to jump on a bandwagon without understanding what makes it fun.

Why does it have an Avatar you have to control?
Because Rift Breaker and Factorio. Only that here combat is incredibly boring busywork, the enemies are generic setpieces and theres no real reason to have the Avatar besides doing manual fighting.

The problem is, that they mimic the bad parts of the games they got inspired by.
The combat of Factorio for example is possibly the worst part of the game, completely boring (press Space and enjoy auto-aim) and cumbersome.

Now it seemed they feeled the need to mimic them without actually asking why or how it would benefit the game (experience) and whether these parts were actually fun in the games they take as inspiration.

So instead of having a game with a flying city that you lead through a procedurally generated world, to land, build a base, spawning units and send them out to clean the areas you want to harvest, you have a robot you control limiting you and your gameplay to that Robot, to get upgrades for him while keeping a button pressed to shoot at stupid polygons.

It should have been more like a consistent version of They are Billions where you take your built city with you to the next map to repeat the process with ramping up difficulty and new limitations.
It shouldnt have been a bad version of Factorio without any continuity and generic aliens to shoot with generic weapons.
The former at least had the chance to become a fun experience, the latter just struggles at integral design decisions needing a complete rework.

  9. Wow, how depressing. Clearly no game company considers god games worth much of their time. I didn't see anything that competes with Sim City or any of the games from Impressions – Pharaoh, Zeus, etc. The graphics on some of these games to come look poor by Windows 98 standards! Wow. I think I will be playing the same old games a while longer. Of course Sim City Deluxe won't play on Win 10 so that is a drag – yes, I've tried the hacks but the game crashes too regularly to be fun. It is sad times for city builders!o

  10. I am dying to play Anno 1800 but won't play it without mods and I've given up trying to get the "unique and special" mod loader to work. The modders are all at nexus so why don't they use the standard nexus mod loader?

  11. Just bought Foundation. I can not really find any videos of it recently. Most of the vids I find are from 1-2+ years ago. Which kinda sucks bc cant find any tips that are for sure accurate for this version

  12. Almost a decade? that would make you ( does complex arithmetic ) still 40 years younger than me!
I'm looking for ideas – a new gaming PC for all these City Building/ Colony/ Strategy 4X/ Space/ Management/ Simulation games.
